In beer related news, we brewed up a batch of booze that was most tasty. It actually turned out, the waiting was nerve racking for a while, but always good to know you didn't fuck it up. We brewed a red IPA. It was a combo of Nugget, Saaz and Amarillo hops mixed with Red, ESB and another grain I can't remember off the top of my head. We used California Ale yeast which made it some what steam beer quality. Pretty damn tasty. My hops have grown a shit ton and have finally produced full on cones, so hopefully in the next week or so we'll get that batch cooked up. I have some pics to throw up but none of them on my comp yet.

September... looking down on October

Just a short demo. I picked up the guitar for the first time in a while and this popped out so I wanted to make sure I remembered it. I think it will evolve into something quite nice... or something retarded like a Riachu. Who knows.

This is an ongoing song for me, it has numerable versions as well as names. I'm calling it Song From Comfort because that's what it's become for me, it's something I'm incredibly used to but also always changing.

Suprised it's still July

Been up to a little bit lately. I started work refinishing my Grandma's cedar chest. So far I have only the top of the lid sanded... It's been going slow, I've been out of it and my family has been stopping by to visit.

I also sent in a 4 song demo CD to radio 1190AM's Local Shakedown show. Shot in the dark I guess but what do I have to lose. Give it a listen Fridays from 4-6 maybe they'll play some.

Still job hunting... Not going to school next semester. Over all pretty lifeless over here. I've been using the type writer lately, I might post some of that stuff too.

I did jot down some parts for a new song. I think it's going to be pretty cool, it's in A-Harmonic Minor. I just need to focus on something other than drinking.

Love Song for a Girl I don't Know

So here's something I pieced together the other night. It's sort of a song for someone but it's not really complete and or too meaningful sounding. It has three tracks in it: two baritone uke parts and one harmonica. I was going to sing too but I was too sober for that. I did give it a whack this week but I decided it wasn't all that great. So I may re-post it with some vocals on it... perhaps.

New Song New Site

So apparently the site I used to stream music with no longer exists so Chris said I should get a Sound Cloud account, so I did just that. I'm going to try and load everything up there since it no longer works on here. I'll still be posting on here and streaming music and such though. Anyhow...

Nothingness, Meth-heads and Hops

Not too much going on here lately. I'm still jobless and school-less with a pretty terrible disposition on life. New song in the works I'll probably load what I have recorded so far tomorrow. I'm going to take Lance's advice and try to add more tracks to the song.

Here's some stuff I've pissed away my money on this week:






I got this at the flea market from some shady meth heads. The lady swore it was from her town in Germany (the lady who didn't have a German accent) then started to sing in what I presume was German. All sorts of weird. I also got a Hamms Brewery bottle opener while I was there... I seem to have misplaced it though.

These are my hops. The vines are about 12 ft tall now. They are massive compared to the June first post! There are all these little bugs on the underside of the leaves though, I think they are aphids as well as some caterpillar eggs. I'm going to try to get some lady bugs and have them murder all of the bastards. Otherwise I am going to kill each and every one of them with my bare hands (I have a lot of free time).

I think harvest time will be end of August... I haven't seen any flowers on them yet, I've been checking some wild hops I found in the Open Spaces (actually where I dug the roots for mine up) and they aren't flowering either so they seem to be growing fine. Last year the vine barely grew 8 ft, huge improvement this year.

Should make for a damn good brew.

Garden of Hops

My hops are growing all crazy. Chrispy and Adam put tomato cages around them while I was in Missoula. I strung them from the roof like the do in Bavaria a few days ago. We didn't have any twine so I cut open a baseball (baseballs are full of string, we used to cut them up and string them through the high school). I also have some potatoes, strawberries and peppers growing. The hops are dominating everything.

Starting on a short story, not making real progress but I'm liking it so far.

A Quick Brush with Death

Not related to writing or music in any way, but I was pretty sure I was about to die last night. I was sitting with my roommate sipping on a beer when I peered down at my hands to notice they were bright red. I asked my roommate if they looked weird and he pointed out that my face was practically purple. I looked in the mirror and my face was indeed blood red; my arms were red, my chest was red, my hands were red... it really freaked me the fuck out. I'm not allergic to anything and I hadn't eaten anything bizarre so I had no idea what was going on. It was already late and I had been drinking a bit so I didn't want to head to the health center. So what could I do? I had a glass of gin and went to bed, I figured if I died in my sleep I would come back and haunt the shit out of everyone. When I woke up I was fine (aside from the god forsaken construction going on directly below my window).

On the construction note... there's this mother fucking construction site literally below my window. It's been going on for two weeks now and every morning it wakes me up to the sound of a helicopter fucking a whale. It is the BANE of my existence. I have no idea what they are doing but I wouldn't mind if a meteor destroyed this whole block so I could get some fucking sleep.

No music or writing for now but... hopefully I don't die and hopefully I can get some sleep.
